Bloomer before the rain weeknite.

Quick speedy loop at Bloomer before the lite rains hit. 8.1 miles in an hour. Legs in mid season shape - could have done another if not for the wetness.

Metro Sun and gusty South.

Got on water by 3:30 to up and down 15-30 out of south. 9m and Duke worked well when it was steady with lots of great wave swell with the now deep LSC waters. 88 and sunny worked well with crowded skies out in front of the launch. Snuck back in about 5:30 when it started to drop. Waited around and derigged at 7pm and of course it picked up! Rigged the 12m and when out at 7:45 for another more steady session of 15-25 with a nice sunset. Great wave day just need some more steady winds.

New Torn Shirt is reborn and Murray Lake still lonnggggg

Over 2 hours and almost 20 miles this place is basically Highland with speed and flow. New bermed turns and tons of super steep ups packed with speed where you want it. Really nice wide design and Colorado feel for the first 5 miles. ML is still really endless looping back and forth for final 4 miles. Like to hit this one multiple times in these sunny 60 degree days.

Sunday Double Sunday.

Perfect sunny dry (after 2 days rain) riding at 55 degrees. Two-fer afternoon. First at Island Lake and then Maybury for almost 22 miles. Loving the Surly tires at a hard 15psi. These monsters work over everything. Spring riding season now in high gear. Let's go.

HI winds rock with 6-7m afternoon

Solid 3 hours of SW. Got on water just after 3:30 with winds lulling in mid twenties but rigged 7m with Duke and got lucky - it kept picking up. Just Craig Tom Keith and I. I was last guy out so it was awesome final hour having the bay to myself with winds going to 40 and I never touched the depower. Cool 57 degrees and overcast was the majority conditions but there was about 15 minutes of sun while the whole bay lit up. Off water at 6:30 and while I was leaving at 7 winds kicked to nuclear touching 50. Great wave craving and a multiple magical aired out strapless floater jumps.

Monday Messy Metro Nukes to Nothing

Full depower then no depower with SSW Winds 7-35+. No steady blow today. Overcast for most part with clouds playing games with holes and then streaks of nuclear winds. 12m to start with bouncy Duke. Then to Mako until 12 got scary. Then best part was 7m to myself with some nice tall wave action right up front until that was underpowered. Not a great day but had a few moments-and JB's out of a tree!

Belle River comes Alive on NNE

4 hours plus on the Duke and 12. Great waves the final hour with full depower. Lots of sailors out but I had the setup for 15-22. Great day at 55 degrees and bone dry in the Boost. Worthy of the border crossing.

Hatteras OBX Trip Finale 2017

Day 7: 7/7 sailing everyday! Friday 12m and Duke from 1-2:30 with NE/ENE 15. Some fun racing up and down but nothing like yesterday with downwinder. Sun and 73. Great trip - best yet - warmer and windier than all the forecasts. Got believe that the thermals in afternoon delivered. Great Grouper dinner with the boys from Liquid Rush. Next year hopefully we are in Avon!

Hatteras OBX Trip Part 2 2017

Day 4: Back to JR for more 20-35 SSW thermals and after saying we should bring everything I leave the 7m back at house! Overall 9m worked well on Duke and Mako with best sound swell I've ever ridden curling 2-4' way way out. Sun and 40+ people out. Stayed away from inside crowds and had a ball way out. Dinner at Outer Banks Brewing!

Day 5: Should have gone back to JR. Scooped out ocean and Rodanthe pier and one guy out looking underpowered - too bad too because shorebreak looked doable. Morning fail at Salvo to try for downie to house with Bob Craig and I. Light 11-14 flow not enough to kite much less try anything. Back at house though it's up 15-20 for fun day on the Duke with 12. 3-4 hours out erases the AM but JR would have been 9. Home Dinner with Boys Pizza and Pasta.

Day 6: NNE 20-30 Strong flow for almost 9 hours on 9M! Sun again and great PM downwinder in an hour to Salvo. Great full day on surfboard with 100+ jibes wearing the harness line down to nothing. Highlight sail day at house. Dinner Watermans rare burger with crabmeat topper. We should go here more!

River Bends Hard Thin Snow - thanks DST

Quick one on the Fat-Ti with perfect 6psi for unreal grip on the Lou and Bud. 6pm 31 degrees and sun thanks to DST. Good 80% dry thin snow pack - the other 20% no so great. 2 Loops for 10 miles.

Highland ABCD killer long but 80% dry

Really long one with JB. 2:40 on trail with 30 minutes rest. Mostly dry but bike still loaded with mud and ice - thank you spray car wash after! Sunny and 30 degrees with tires at 12psi. Right pressure for mostly dry trail. Bombing DH sections at mostly full speed too. Next week we try something a little more speedy. Thought early on no problem riding this at a good pace but: Highland wins again.

HI So Good 7m starts 2017

Woo 9m and 42 degrees to start WSW 20-25 first 2 hours turned 30+++ by noon and snow with 30-35 degrees. So powered on the Duke but it worked with 7m switch pulling like crazy. Kuban, Keith and I for most of day has it to ourselves. So happy I moved down to 7 as it was gusting to 35-40 by 2pm with others having to be held down. Great start with 5 hours kiting. Alleve and ordering 7mm gloves - the 5mm only work to 40's.

Bloomer worth the ride!

Wet and soggy was the guess with Rain days before and 35 degrees. Not worth driving anywhere right? So let's bike to Bloomer. Mostly dry getting there except for final wet 1/4 mile into back park entrance. Very icy on main trails in from all the walkers. Go and check the singletrack?--- it's 80% dry and still frozen. Booya we ride. Really good 2 upper rim loops with hardly any mud. Even the normal dirt/mud off camber trail was dry. Totally worthy near 20 miles and 2 hours. And had the tires at a very hard 12psi which seemed to even work well on trail. The Lou and Bud Surly's are the bomb. 35 degrees worked out this time-get it while you can.
